theo bleckmann with rob schwimmer

With his touching program Songs of Love and War, Peace and Exile, two-time Grammy nominee Theo Bleckmann pays tender tribute to his native Germany and breathes delicate life into classic Weimar-era music, including works by Hanns Eisler, Kurt Weill, and Bertolt Brecht. As with his celebrated and haunting rendition of “Lilli Marleen,” Bleckmann delivers these songs with a distinct poise, clarity, and depth. His “inimitable splendor” (San Francisco Classical Voice) heightens the immediacy and relevance found in the personal and political potency of these songs today.
