theo bleckmann

Hailed as “a virtuosic voice-artist along the intersections of pop music and performance, jazz and improvisation” by Die Zeit (Germany), the dazzling Bleckmann returns to Café Sabarsky with a new program that highlights his “poignant, weird and amusing”(New York Times) interpretations of the most fertile and febrile period of musical history: Weimar Germany.

CABARET AT CAFÉ SABARSKY

Cabaret at Café Sabarsky in the Neue Galerie continues its unique series devoted primarily to German and Austrian music of the 1890s to 1930s, some of the most fertile and volatile music created in the modern era. The intimate 60-seat room is exquisitely appointed with period objects, including lighting fixtures by Josef Hoffmann and furniture by Adolf Loos, and features a Bösendorfer grand piano.

All performances are at 9 p.m., preceded by a prix-fixe dinner at 7 p.m.
Combined cost is $140 (dinner $75, performance $65; must be purchased together).
