In this show, Steve Ross explores the fascinating connections between Viennese and German composers and the American Songbook—from Franz Lehár and Sigmund Romberg to Johnny Mercer and Cole Porter. He also pays homage to Marlene Dietrich and to the versatile songwriter Mischa Spoliansky, along with a tip of the musical hat to the brilliant a capella group The Comedian Harmonists.

CABARET AT CAFÉ SABARSKY

Cabaret at Café Sabarsky in the Neue Galerie continues its unique series devoted primarily to German and Austrian music of the 1890s to 1930s, some of the most fertile and volatile music created in the modern era. The intimate 60-seat room is exquisitely appointed with period objects, including lighting fixtures by Josef Hoffmann and furniture by Adolf Loos, and features a Bösendorfer grand piano.

All performances are at 9 p.m., preceded by a prix-fixe dinner at 7 p.m.
Ticket cost is $140 ($65/person performance fee charged upon booking; dinner $75/person, charged on the evening of the performance). Tax, gratuity and beverages are not included.
