KIM DAVID SMITH

Australian Kim David Smith conjures the glitter, doom, and decadence of 1920’s Berlin with “Morphium Kabarett.” Named for the sensual, Spoliansky-penned waltz, this program features the standards of Hollaender, Weill, and Spoliansky, mixed with Kylie Minogue, The Supremes, and many unexpected others, in a neo-Weimar cabaret fantasia.

CABARET AT CAFÉ SABARSKY

Cabaret at Café Sabarsky in the Neue Galerie continues its unique series devoted primarily to German and Austrian music of the 1890s to 1930s, some of the most fertile and volatile music created in the modern era. The intimate 60-seat room is exquisitely appointed with period objects, including lighting fixtures by Josef Hoffmann and furniture by Adolf Loos, and features a Bösendorfer grand piano.

All performances are at 9 p.m., preceded by a prix-fixe dinner at 7 p.m.
Ticket cost is $140 ($65/person performance fee charged upon booking; dinner $75/person, charged on the evening of the performance). Tax, gratuity and beverages are not included.
